ISTF rules do not forbid it; they only require both string faces to be the same and the strings to cross. The difference is weight. A strung tennis racket usually weighs over 300 g, a soft tennis racket 210–275 g, and the ball is half the weight of a tennis ball. For one trial session a tennis racket will do. Which racket to choose for the long run is covered in the racket guide.
Yes. The court has the same dimensions. The net should hang level along its whole length, so before play you unhook the strap that pulls it down at the centre in tennis, or prop the net up in the middle. The full rules are on the rules page.
The aluminium Kenko STR-88. It weighs 275 g, comes with permanent factory strings and costs less than the carbon frame. The carbon KTR-24 weighs 210–225 g, has replaceable strings and a G2 or G3 grip, and is for players who are staying with soft tennis. The racket finder picks a model in four questions.
G2 is the thinner one, which we sell to women and juniors. G3 is the thicker one, for men. The choice applies to the carbon KTR-24; you pick the size from the list when ordering.
A box of 12 Kenko Standard training balls, white or yellow. They have the same weight and diameter as tournament balls, and a beginner will not feel the difference. One box is enough for two people practising. The TSOW-V tournament balls are for matches; that is the ball played at PSTA and ISTF events. More in the balls guide.
With the Kenko needle pump, pushing the needle straight into the valve the way you inflate a volleyball. Pressure holds for a few weeks, then a few strokes of the pump are enough. A correctly inflated ball dropped from 150 cm bounces to 70–80 cm.
